Celebration of Perthshire Produce and Talent at Perthshire On A Plate

Perthshire On A Plate showcase set for 2023!

The city’s leading food festival returns as part of Perth Show on Friday and Saturday, August 4 and 5, with a mouthwatering menu of cookery demonstrations, produce stands and pop-up restaurants showcasing the very best of Perthshire produce and culinary talent.

The event, organised by Perthshire Chamber of Commerce and supported by Binn Group and Perth College UHI, has partnered with Perth Show since 2016, providing a stage for local and celebrity chefs and many of those involved in food and drink production across Perthshire.

Vicki Unite, Chamber CEO, said they were looking forward to staging this ever-popular event once again.

“The food and drink sector is a hugely important part of Perthshire’s economy,” she said, “and the Chamber is delighted to stage POAP 2023 to support and showcase chefs and producers as we continue to operate in extremely challenging trading conditions.

“Hopefully people will enjoy their days with us and support all aspects of the food festival and the Perth Show which has been at the heart of the local agricultural community for 160 years and offers something for all tastes.”

Joining us over the two days as our headline Celebrity Chef is globally renowned, multi-award-winning Pastry Chef, and “Bake Off: The Professionals” judge, Cherish Finden.

The famously meticulous judge on Bake Off: The Professionals, which is currently airing on our screens, was born in Singapore and has over 20 years of international experience in the industry, proving a formidable judge. Cherish has also starred in Heston’s Great British Food, MasterChef, Australian MasterChef, An Extra Slice, Saturday Kitchen and Junior Bake off. Cherish’s unique style of patisserie sees her famous for pushing the boundaries of creativity and what can be achieved by marrying food with art.

Looking forward to joining us on both the Friday and Saturday, Cherish Finden said:

“It’s a great thrill for me to visit Scotland and I’m really looking forward to being part of this terrific two-day festival of food and farming for the first time. I am really looking forward to my trip and being among the community in beautiful Perth.”

Perth Show and Perthshire On A Plate really celebrate the area’s wonderful food story – from field to fork – and Cherish is creating a few great recipes showcasing both sweet and savoury creations with a range of techniques, including some simpler ones, which could be recreated at home as well as elements requiring a more technical application for those who love a challenge or already have some skills and expertise.

Forming a stellar line up of local chefs with hourly demonstrations throughout each day are: Adam Newth Personal Chef, Neil Mugg (UHI Perth), Sarah Rankin Cooks, Tom Lewis (Monachyle Mhor), Chris Rowley (Ballintaggart) and Clive Lamb (UHI Perth).

Entry to Perthshire On A Plate is free following paid entry to Perth Show with special entry rates for those attending the Perthshire Chamber’s Business Breakfast at 10am on Friday 4th as we formally open this year’s event.
