Today’s the Day! Perthshire On A Plate celebrates 10 delicious years with two days of food, flair and family fun at Perth Show

Perthshire On A Plate returns this weekend for a milestone celebration, marking 10 years as one of Scotland’s most vibrant food and drink festivals. Taking place today and tomorrow – Friday 1st and Saturday 2nd August – this year’s special anniversary edition promises an unforgettable experience at the heart of the Perth Show on the South Inch.

Returning to headline is beloved celebrity chef Rosemary Shrager, who opened the very first POAP at the Perth Show in 2016 as part of the Perth Show, so it’s fitting that she joins the celebrations at this year’s 10th event.

Brought to you by Perthshire Chamber of Commerce and proudly sponsored by Binn Group and supported by the UHI Perth team who manage the Cookery Theatre every year, the two-day celebration will once again showcase the incredible flavours, producers and culinary talent that define Perthshire’s rich food culture.

From celebrity chefs and rising stars, to over 40 local producers and an array of local pop-up dining options with both a local and international flavour , POAP 2025 is serving up a festival experience that’s equal parts delicious and entertaining.

A Feast for All the Senses

With a proud focus on quality, provenance, and community, Perthshire On A Plate champions the region’s producers — from farm to fork. Visitors can explore the bustling Produce stands, bursting with artisan stalls, tasters, and fresh produce available to buy direct.

This year’s line-up features much-loved names including some of whom have been supporters of POAP for the ten events alongside new faces and local businesses offering everything from savoury and sweet treats to small-batch drinks.

“POAP has always been about celebrating what’s best in our region,” said Vicki Unite, Chief Executive of Perthshire Chamber of Commerce. “It’s not just about great food and drink – it’s about connection, creativity and community. This year’s tenth anniversary is a proud moment for everyone involved and we are so grateful to be part of the Perth Show – it’s a perfect fit with our joint Farm to Fork ethos.”

Live Cookery Theatre – Big Names, Local Heroes

At the heart of the festival is the Cookery Theatre, which this year offers a packed programme of live demos and butchery showcases across both days.

Rosemary Shrager will be taking to the stage twice each day, joined by culinary leaders including Stephen McLaughlin, Executive Chef at Restaurant Andrew Fairlie, David Hunt, Vice President of the Federation of Chefs Scotland and Richard Dalgleish, Executive Sous Chef, Gleneagles Estate.

Visitors can also enjoy demonstrations courtesy of QMS from Gleneagles’ young chefs, plus Ben Megahy of Simon Howie Butchers, whose butchery skills always draw a crowd.

From steamed stuffed chicken with peaches to Shetland salmon with yuzu and crispy capers, the live theatre brings colour, flavour, and inspiration to food lovers of all ages.

Pop-Up Eateries – Global Flavours, Local Talent and Produce

POAP’s Pop-Up eateries area brings a global twist to the festival with five standout pop-up kitchens serving bold, authentic flavours from around the world and closer to home— all with a Perthshire twist.

– Good-Life Farming dishes up their famous Pulled Pig flatbreads, hearty Scottish breakfasts, Beekeeper’s Bites with chilli honey and halloumi, and vegan Forager’s Wraps.
– The Tuskers serve up Sri Lankan comfort food with aromatic Jaffna Chicken Curry and vibrant Beetroot Kirata — both gluten- and dairy-free.
– Everest Inn brings Himalayan heat with a flavour-packed taster plate of samosas, biryani, and pakora.
– Eva’s Tzatziki offers traditional Greek favourites like moussaka, beef stifado, and syrupy baklava.
– Pinko’s Korean Street Food delivers punchy combo rice bowls with fried chicken, bulgogi beef, and kimchi.

With vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, halal, and child-friendly options, there’s something to suit every palate and diet.

Free with Perth Show Entry

All of this is included free with your Perth Show ticket – meaning families can enjoy two fantastic festivals in one. POAP runs from 9am to 5pm each day, with Cookery Theatre demos beginning from 10am and continuing throughout the day.

As part of its commitment to local businesses and tourism, Perthshire On A Plate continues to offer a platform for producers to reach new customers and celebrate the depth of talent within the region.

“POAP has grown into a true celebration of what makes Perthshire special,” added Vicki Unite. “It’s local, it’s fun, and it brings people together over great food — what more could you want?”
